Community meals in Cashiers feature pickin’ on the side

art gatheringtableThe Gathering Table is providing fresh, nutritious dinners from 5 to 7 p.m. every Thursday evening at the Cashiers Community Center to all members of the community regardless of one’s ability to pay.

Started by a group of like-minded citizens a year ago, The Gathering Table has been operating for just more than a year and has served approximately 4,500 dinners since opening. In addition to sit-down dinners, take-out meals are available for shut-ins and families.

Whenever possible, The Gathering Table serves fresh, locally grown organic food, much of it provided by the Blue Ridge Farmers Co-op. It serves the Cashiers, Glenville, Highlands and Sapphire areas and welcomes residents to come for dinner and enjoy the camaraderie and community spirit at every dinner.

Volunteers are always needed to help at the dinner, and donations are gratefully accepted.
