Written by

art matteaAcclaimed singer/songwriter Kathy Mattea will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin.

For Mattea, the influence of Appalachian culture from her native West Virginia represents an essential piece of her musical education and heritage, rooted deeply in family and traditions. During the years, she has gathered songs and stories of bravery, pride and grief, rich in lore and history representing what she calls her place and her people. Long known as an impeccable song-catcher, with hits such as “Where’ve You Been?” “455 Rocket” and the iconic “Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses.” Her 17 albums are woven through with bluegrass, gospel and Celtic influences, and have garnered multiple CMA, ACM and Grammy awards.

Tickets are $18 and $22.
