HCC Woodsmen team rocks the Cradle at Timbersports meet

out choppy chopHaywood Community College’s Timbersports Team took first place by a landslide at the John G. Palmer Intercollegiate Woodsmen’s Meet held at the Cradle of Forestry earlier this month.

Students chopped, sawed, cut, tossed, climbed and scaled their way to victory in the timber contests, ranging from pole climb to ax throw to chainsaw speed and dexterity.

The team went up against North Carolina State University, Virginia Tech, Penn State-Mont Alto, Montgomery Community College, and Warren Wilson College. HCC finished with a score of 142. Penn State came in second with a score of 69, and NC State finished third with 65 points.
