‘World’s best young Elvis’ to play WCU

art elvisTravis LeDoyt, acclaimed by critics as “the world’s best young Elvis,” will bring his tribute to the “King of Rock-N-Roll” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, in the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center at Western Carolina University.

The show will be in honor of what would have been Presley’s 80th birthday this month and is part of the 2014-15 Galaxy of Stars Series.

LeDoyt captures the essence of Elvis in his prime, and restricts his shows to the hits and ambience of 1954 through 1962. Utilizing a three-piece band featuring guitar, bass and drums, he takes his audience back to the fun and excitement of a 1950s Elvis concert. LeDoyt has been selling out shows and receiving accolades from audiences from around the world. He has been on four tours in the United Kingdom and has performed in Hong Kong, China, Chile and Canada.

Tickets cost $21 for adults ($15 in groups of 20 or more), $16 for WCU faculty and staff members, and $7 for students/children of any age. The performance is sponsored by David S. McGuire and F. Patrick McGuire Dentistry. The media sponsor is 540 AM-WRGC Radio.
