The public is invited to Western Carolina University’s School of Art and Design at 1 p.m. Aug. 3 for an open house for the Cullowhee Mountain ARTS Summer Visual ARTS Series. There will be light refreshments in the student lounge, a visit to the printmaking studio to see results from an week of printmaking and the opportunity to view art works donated by 21 nationally/internationally recognized artists.
“Nearly all of the artists who agreed to teach during the 2012 Summer Visual ARTS Series generously donated a piece of their art to the Drawing for Art Fundraiser,” said Norma Hendrix, director of Cullowhee Mountain ARTS. “These 21 pieces reflect the range of workshops offered during our first annual Summer Visual ARTS Series: painting, printmaking, photography, mixed media, fiber, sculpture, & ceramics.”
As part of its “Drawing for Art” fundraiser, people can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win drawings for each individual work of art. The winners will be announced Aug. 30. Funds raised support the costs of supplies, marketing, staffing and administration and hosting artists/instructors.
