Sylva to host vintage Pontiacs car show

art pontiacsA selection of rare Pontiac automobiles will be on display during a vintage car show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 8 in downtown Sylva.

The gathering will showcase up to 50 vehicles manufactured by Pontiac and its sister nameplate Oakland from 1926-1954. It will also culminate three days of festivities in Jackson County for members of a national Pontiac car club.

Sylva resident Rick Shoestock, an officer in the club, worked to bring the event to Jackson County and encourages vintage car fans to attend the show. He also invites owners of Pontiacs and Oaklands from the flathead era to display their vehicles.

Admission is free. It takes place in the SunTrust Bank parking lot at the corner of West Main and Landis in Sylva.
