Chamber Ambassadors complete training

A new group of Chamber Ambassadors recently completed training and initiation by the Greater Haywood County Chamber of Commerce. Twenty out of 26 trainees in the new class received their badges. Chamber Ambassadors are business professionals who serve as advocates for the chamber, working to increase membership involvement, recruitment and retention.

New Waynesville game room opens at rec center

The Waynesville Recreation Center recently opened a game room featuring a ping-pong table, Wii and Xbox 360 consoles with Kinect, two Gameboy bicycles and a children’s climbing wall. It is open from 4 to 5 p.m. on Fridays, 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays. All ages are allowed, although some games require an age minimum.

Child care is offered during game room operation hours for children 7 to 11 years old. It is free for members and $6 per visit for non-members. 828.456.2030.

Boutique hosts chamber networking event

Owner of Humanite, Erin Smith, will host March’s Business After Hours, a monthly networking event hosted by the Swain County Chamber of Commerce. Smith’s boutique takes a conscientious approach to affordable high fashion and utilizes organic material and eco-friendly production practices. She donates 10 percent of all proceeds to local and international charities. The event will include fashion, prizes and food from Home Sweet Home Bakery. Used bookstore opens in Canton

Jenny’s Used Books, located in Fletcher, opened a second location in downtown Canton this month. It is a hometown used bookstore that sells books at low prices. Jenny’s carries fiction, non-fiction, children’s, Christian fiction, thrillers, westerns, science fiction and paranormal. Used books may be traded in for store credit good for either store. 828.648.0006.
