Ridge air permit hearing is Jan. 8 in Canton

The state
will hold a public hearing Thursday on issuing Blue Ridge Paper Products
a new air pollution permit.
The paper mill must reapply for an air permit every few years. A public
hearing is required as part of the permitting purpose. The hearing
will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Colonial Theater in
downtown Canton.
Blue Ridge Paper Products is conducting a roughly $20 million upgrade
of air pollution controls. Blue Ridge Paper employs 1,300 people in
Haywood County. |
