Canton’s Papertown looking for flood photos
SMN

The Canton Papertown Association is looking for flood photos from Canton and Clyde to be placed in a memorial picture book. The book will be sold to raise funds to rebuild the town’s Turner Stage and Pisgah High School’s football stadium, which were both destroyed in the floodwaters of hurricanes Frances and Ivan.

Residents are encouraged to submit their photos for possible inclusion in the book. Each photographer’s work will be acknowledged in the book and a special thank you will be given for all photos.

“We are working with a local printer to develop the coffee table book as a historical keepsake,” said Canton Papertown’s Executive Director Steve Banks. “This is a very serious undertaking and only the best of the best will be published in this photo essay. Papertown will then make the book available to the public at a nominal charge with funds being utilized toward our ultimate goal, rebuilding Turner Stage and getting the Bears home.”

Photos are needed immediately. To submit digital photos, email stevebanks@papertownusa.com. Printed photos may be mailed to The Canton Papertown Association at 109 Main Street Canton, N.C., 28716. For more information visit the Papertown Web site at www.papertownusa.com or call 828.648.9967.
