SMN

Haywood Community College continues to experience slight increases in enrollment. Spring semester 2005 enrollment is 1,904 compared to 1,893 last spring.

“HCC spring enrollment has reached another milestone, surpassing the 1,900 mark for the first time,” said Dr. Janice Gilliam, vice president of HCC Student Services. “We have had record enrollments for spring semester since 2000.”

The early childhood and teacher associate curriculum enrollment was up 18.6 percent over last year. The cosmetology program has experienced a 14-percent increase, while nursing is up 24 percent and forest management technology is up 20 percent. Dual enrollment figures also reflect growth with an increase of 61 percent over last year.

The Dual Enrollment Program allows high school students 16 years of age or older to take college level courses. The classes are tuition free but students must purchase any required textbooks and supplies.
