Winter cycling clinics

SMN

Liberty Bikes in Asheville hosts a series of winter bike clinics covering a variety of topics on random Wednesdays in the winter. The clinics are presented by die-hard or professional bikers in the region with an area of expertise to share with fellow roadies.

Last week, the shop hosted a clinic on bio-mechanics — or how to capitalize on the symbiotic relationship between bike and body. It was led by an avid road biker who works for Southeastern Sports Medicine, a clinician with an acute understanding of muscular and skeletal performance and optimum body positions.

The current line-up of clinics follows, but stay tuned as more are added anytime a local rider pipes up with a new area of expertise to share. A world road bike competitor who frequents the shop was scanning the list of upcoming clinics posted in the shop and volunteered to do one on nutrition for cyclists, which will likely be added to the current schedule.

Clinics are free, open to anyone and start at 7 p.m. Take I-40 to exit 50 and go south two miles. Liberty Bikes is next to the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance beside Starbucks.
