| << Back 3/30/05 Annual kite festival takes flight in Franklin SMN Take to the skies with Franklin’s annual Come Fly A Kite festival at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Macon County Recreation Park. The Macon County arts council will provide materials for participants to build and decorate a kite. Older children will be shown how to construct an old-fashion “sticks and string” kite, with younger participants making an easy-to-build mini-kite. Prizes will be awarded for the most artistic kites made on site. Participants also may bring a homemade or store-bought kite to fly. The festival will feature trick kite demonstration and other high-in-the-sky surprises. Attendance and participation is free; children under age 10 must be with an adult.
