Artist Mandy Newham is the new editorial cartoonist and illustrator for The Smoky Mountain News.

Her work, which appears above, has appeared in each issue of this newspaper since the last week of February. Newham is a recent graduate of Florida State University and has a bachelor’s degree in fine art. She recently moved to Western North Carolina and is pursuing a career in art.

In addition to free-lancing for this newspaper, Newham’s paintings can be found at Woolworth Walk Gallery in downtown Asheville. She can be reached at warholafame@yahoo.com.

We would also like to wish our former cartoonist, David Cohen, the best as he moves on another chapter in his long career in cartooning in Western North Carolina.
