Government
entities try to buy Dayco
SMN
Haywood
County and Waynesville will each contribute $650,000 to help purchase
the Dayco building.
The county has agreed to provide the Haywood Advancement Foundation
with $650,000, and the town of Waynesville was expected to OK a similar
expenditure at its meeting April 9.
The fate of the 33-acre Dayco property will be decided by a bankruptcy
court April 17. Economic development officials say a good bid from
local governments might oust the building from Landmark Corp., which
has already made a bid of $2.5 million for the building. Landmark
is associated with Grand Ridge, the company the court liquidated and
which owes several creditors thousands of dollars. |
