Silk
artist and painter on show at Little Gallery SMN
The Haywood County Arts Council will host an opening reception
for silk artist Jill Carr and drawer and painter Nina Brooks from
6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, at the Little Gallery in Waynesville.
Georgia-native Carr attended Berry College in Rome, Ga., drawing inspiration from the setting of the campus, which is situated on 28,000 acres of forests, trails, reservoirs and wildlife refuges. The campus had a profound impact on her life and was an integral part of the artwork she produced in college. Carr graduated in 2002 with a degree in studio art and a minor in anthropology.
Brooks began drawing in the first grade. Her art is strongly influenced by the raw beauty of the Alaskan landscapes and the sharp contrast between periods of light and dark. She began painting seriously two years ago and draws inspiration from feminine energies, the human form, and the political discrepancies of the world.
Carr’s and Brooks’ works will remain on display through the end of April.
