Peace activist comes to WCU

A peace activist who once served six months in the same prison where Martha Stewart was incarcerated will speak at Western Carolina University at 12:30 p.m. on April 21.

Clare Hanrahan will speak in a program in the auditorium of the Mountain Heritage Center, located on the ground floor of H.F. Robinson Administration Building.

Hanrahan was convicted of misdemeanor trespass for her part in a peaceful protest calling for closure of the U.S. Army School of Americas.

Hanrahan has published two books – “Jailed for Justice: A Women’s Guide to Federal Prison Camp” and “Conscience & Consequence: A Prison Memoir.”
