| << Back 4/20/05 Parkway plates gain popularity SMN Blue Ridge Parkway license plates are becoming a more common sight on people’s bumpers. Less than one year since the specialty license plates were introduced, more than 4,000 motorists in North Carolina are sporting the plates. The license plates cost an extra $30 a year. Of that, $20 goes to special projects for the Parkway, such as protecting Parkway vistas or developing cultural programs at historic sites along the Parkway. “We are very excited about the sales progress of these tags.” said Houck Medford, executive director for the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation. Medford’s long-term goal is 50,000 license plates, which would provide $1 million a year for special projects. Tags can be ordered online from the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation at www.brpfoundation.org/tag.php or call 336.721.0260. |
