Recall issued for children’s fishing poles

SMN

Parents: don’t let your kids chew on their fishing poles.

About 1.5 million children’s fishing poles made by Zebco have been recalled due to lead paint used on the poles, which could be harmful if ingested.

The recalled fishing poles are brightly colored and feature pictures of cartoon characters on the reels — SpongeBob, Dora the Explorer, Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, and the cast of Nickelodeon’s Rocket Power are among the characters on the poles

The poles, which run $9 to $13 and were made in China, were mostly carried by discount stores.

“There have been no reports of injuries or illness associated with these poles,” the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced in a precautionary press release.

To receive a free replacement pole, call 800.444.5581 ext. 6217 or go to www.zebco.com/recall.
