Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Christofer Catterson will join the medical staff of Haywood Regional Medical Center on Aug. 22 as its new director of Haywood Sports Medicine. Catterson will be moving to Haywood County from Birmingham, Ala., where he has been a fellow at the American Sports Medicine Institute, one of the top sports medicine fellowships in the country. The ASMI is known for its research with biomechanics to reduce wear and tear and thus prevent injuries while maximizing efficiency.
