e-NC initiative begins online access survey

SMN

In an effort to help companies build a business case for extending high-speed Internet access throughout North Carolina, the e-NC Initiative has created a central location for citizens to request service.

E-NC, a grassroots effort to connect all North Carolinians to the Internet and a better future, has developed a page on its Web site, www.e-nc.org, where citizens can register requests for high-speed service. Providers can view the number of requests being posted for each county and use the information to determine what areas are most attractive for expansion of service based on demand.

“The high-speed service request page of our Web site will allow providers to see quickly what communities are seeking high-speed access. If they can see the demand is there, it will help companies to build a business case for expanding service to underserved areas,” said James Leutze, chairman of the Rural Internet Access Authority, the group leading e-NC. “

Citizens wishing to request high-speed service can do so by visiting www.e-nc.org/broadband.asp.
