| << Back 5/29/02 Dillsboro to host annual Heritage Festival June 8 SMN Continuing a tradition begun in 1984, Dillsboro will celebrate its 18th Annual Heritage Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 8. The Heritage Festival is a juried show and many of the artisans will be there to demonstrate the work involved in producing their craft. The wide array of arts and crafts to be demonstrated will include wood carving, basket making, quilting, soap and lotion making, Cherokee bead craft, pottery, chain saw carving and jewelry making. There will be a variety of food vendors and plenty of music. The Catch the Spirit of Appalachia who will entertain visitors with a lineup of traditional folk, bluegrass and gospel music along with storytelling accompanied by spontaneous visual art designed to bring alive the history of the area. Also new this year to Dillsboro will be celebrated Native American Dancer and past recipient of the World Champion Hoop Dancer title, Eddie Swimmer. Dillsboro is located less than an hour west of Asheville at the crossroads of 23/74 and US441 in Jackson County. |
