Cold
Mountain novelist to be honored by town
SMN
A date
has been chosen for Franklins Charles Frazier Day
— Sept. 18.
The day will be host to festivities celebrating the best-selling author
of Cold Mountain, a novel about a Civil War deserter and his quest
to return to his home and to his love, Ada.
Though the novels landscape namesake is located in Haywood County,
Frazier is a 1969 graduate of Franklin High School.
Charles Frazier Day will kick off at 11 a.m. with a performance by
the FHS marching band, followed by a brief biography of Fraziers
life and work. Musical group Wild Mountain Thyme will play two selections
from the Cold Mountain movie soundtrack and then Frazier
will be presented with a key to the town.
