While you’re in town, stop by the Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum, located in the town’s historic former jail building on 25 Phillips Street in Franklin. The collection includes thousands of gems and minerals from all over the world, fossils, Native American artifacts, and a fluorescent mineral display. Admission is free. The museum is open to the public between the months of May and September from noon to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. During the months of November through April, the museum is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Individual and tour groups are welcome year-round.
