| << Back 6/5/02 Watermedia society plans summer programs SMN The June 9 meeting of the Blue Ridge Watermedia Society will host a demonstration by Sylva watercolorist Pam Haddock. Haddocks work is currently featured at the Golden Carp in Sylva and Waynesvilles Balsam Mountain Inn. The public is welcome at the Societys meeting at 6:45 p.m. at the Old Armory on Boundary Street in Waynesville. The works of Lil Parks, artist of the month for June, may also be seen at the Old Armory. The Blue Ridge Watermedia Society will hold the followng workshops this year: Asheville watercolorist Sandra Moore will lead off the first workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 22 at the Waynesville Country Club. Moore was commissioned by the Biltmore Village Museum for pen and ink renderings and was chosen by the Carl Sandburg home to display paintings. She has won several prestigious awards for her watercolors. Moores workshop is for the beginning watercolorist and may show a new approach to the medium for the seasoned artist. The fee for this workshop will be $40. On Aug. 10, a plein air (outdoors) workshop will be taught by watercolorist Ann Vasilik. She is renowned for her paintings of Asheville and Waynesville scenes. The cost is $45 for BRWS members and $55 for non-members. Internationally-renowned watercolorist Tom Jones will teach creative techniques in watercolor during an Oct. 26 workshop at the Waynesville Country Club. The cost for BRWS members is $60 and $65 for non-members. Beginners are welcome to all workshops. Interested participants should register now for one or all of the 2002 workshops as space is limited.
