Patriotic songfest scheduled for June 21 at Franklin’s gazebo

SMN

A community sing-along, “Red White and Blue Singin’ Round the Square,” will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Franklin’s Town Square Gazebo across from the Macon County Courthouse.

The free program will feature patriotic and popular numbers for group singing, such as “This Is My Country,” “This Land Is Your Land,” “In the Good Old Summertime,” “Home On the Range,” and many old-time favorites. Song sheets will be provided for audience participation. The Pine Hill Park Musical Disasters Kitchen Band also will perform.

People of all ages are encouraged to attend; food vendors will be present and activities will be provided for children. Bring a lawn chair and sweater. In the event of rain, the program will be canceled. This community event is sponsored by the Arts Council of Macon County with funding support from the Grassroots Arts Program of the North Carolina Arts Council, an agency funded by the state and the National Endowment for the Arts.
