The 24th Annual Maggie Valley Moonlight Race will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, in Maggie Valley. The lead sponsor for this year’s event is Mountain Bank.

A 4K Walk will begin at 6:15 p.m., a Fun Run at 7:30 p.m. and the 8K Race at 8:30 p.m. Top prize money in the 8K Open Division (ages 39 and under, male and female) is $500 with top prize money in the Masters Division (ages 40 and over, male and female) $250. The 4K and 8K are USATF certified. Course record for the race for males is 22.41 held by Mike Musyoki and 26.12 for females, held by Mary Shea.

Entry fees are $20 for the 8K Run, $10 for the 4K Walk and $1 for the Fun Run. Preregistration will be held from noon to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 at the Maggie Valley Community Center and from noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. Preregistration will relocate to the parking area at Ghost Town from 5 to 8 p.m.

A pasta dinner sponsored by the Maggie Valley Civic Association, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the Community Center cafeteria. The price is $6 at the door. There will also be live musical entertainment at the Community Center Pavilion from 6 to 8 p.m.
