The Smoky Mountain Community Theatre is embarking on a new journey — the popular world of reality shows.

“Appalachian Icon” is an original production of Smoky Mountain Community Theatre, a tongue-in -cheek, almost totally improvised and hilarious spoof of today’s reality shows that promises to make ordinary people into superstars.

Appalachian Icon will show at 7 p.m. July 8, 9, 15 and 16 at the Smoky Mountain Community Theatre on Main Street in Bryson City. Tickets are $3 and all proceeds go to the restoration fund to make the historical Gem Theatre shine again.
