| << Back 7/6/05 HRMC opens second urgent care center SMN People will now have another location in Haywood County to go to for their nonlife-threatening illnesses and injuries. Haywood Regional Medical Center has opened Urgent Care West, its second urgent care center, at 556 Hazelwood Avenue. The center is at the former Hazelwood Family Practice building (the old Lowe’s building). “Between the existing UCC and Emergency Department, HRMC experiences over 50,000 patient visits. We anticipate the opening of a second UCC will provide increased access for those patients needing those services,” said Eileen Lipham, vice president of professional services. The new center will open with a full staff including Kelly Larson, M.D., a physician’s assistant or a family nurse practitioner, a registered nurse, a lab technician, a medical assistant, a radiology technician and a receptionist. “The number of urgent care visits has increased significantly. We are expecting more than 9,500 patient visits the first year,” said David Stegall, director of Urgent Care and director of the Occupational Health Department. The center also will be an outpatient center offering routine lab work and X-rays. Hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. It will be open all holidays except Thanksgiving and Christmas day. Hours may expand as needed. |
