Boyd, Melville sworn in as HCC trustees

Two trustees were sworn in at the July Haywood Community College Board of Trustees meeting. Charles Boyd was appointed by the Haywood County School Board and Peggy Melville was reappointed by Governor Mike Easley to serve a four-year term.

Boyd received an associate degree from Wingate College and a bachelor’s and master’s in education from North Carolina State University. He is self-employed as president of WNC Landscaping, a position he has held since 1976. He is a North Carolina certified landscape contractor. Boyd also taught for 30 years including seven years at Blue Ridge Community College and two years at HCC.

Peggy Melville was first appointed to the HCC Board of Trustees in 1999 by Gov. Jim Hunt and has served continuously since, currently as vice-chairman of the board. She is also a trustee representative on the HCC Foundation Board of Directors.

Melville has served as president of Hospice, board member of the Haywood Regional Medical Center Foundation, board member of WNCT, treasurer of Altrusa, advisory board member of Riverlink, board member and treasurer of Haywood Waterways Association, and board member of Smokey Mountain Development Association. She is vice president of HomeTrust Bank.
