Where: In the Big Cove area of Cherokee, just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Highlights: This is a somewhat secret waterfall, located on tribal land but open to the public. It doesn’t require very much hiking, and is a great side stop when visiting the various attractions in Cherokee. The trail is only about a quarter of a mile round trip, but goes up a flight of more than 150 stairs. A small bridge crosses the creek in front of the 120-foot falls.
Directions: From Cherokee, head north on U.S. 441 like you are going into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Before reaching the park entrance, turn right onto Big Cove Road. Continue for 5.25 miles. Turn right, straight ahead is the parking area.
