The Hula Cats, a Hawaiian band out of Asheville, will bring warm ocean breezes to Western North Carolina this Saturday. Covering songs such as “Ukelele Lady,” “Tiny Bubbles” and “My Little Grass Shack in Kealakekua, Hawaii,” this group will make you swing your hips and dream of island sunsets.

The Hula Cats’ instrumentation is authentic (sweet vocals, ukuleles and steel guitar), their presentation at shows is bright and colorful (costumes complete with leis and hibiscus flowers); and their music is carefree and happy. The Hula Cats provide their audience with a festive, light-hearted, tropical escape from daily life.

The members are: Lin Llewellyn (ukulele, vocals); Ami Worthen (ukuleles, vocals), also of the Mad Tea Party; Scott Sharpe (steel guitar, vocals), also of the Sufi Brothers and formerly of the Blue Rags; Jason Krekel (tenor guitar, vocals) also of the Sufi Brothers, the Mad Tea Party, and formerly of the Larry Keel Experience; Steve Fagan (guitar, vocals); and Robert Mitchener (bass, vocals).
