| << Back 8/21/02 Growers plan first Mountain Farm Festival SMN The Waynesville Tailgate Market, held every Wednesday and Saturday in front of Badcock Furnishings, will move to the courthouse for one day for the first annual Mountain Farm Festival from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 24. The Tailgate market is sponsored by the Downtown Waynesville Association and the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service. According to Ron Huelster, executive director of the DWA, this is an opportunity to meet your local growers and learn where you can purchase locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers. Music will be provided by Chris Minick and Friends. There will be a special Growing Minds booth for children where they can learn about gardening and visit farm animals. Visitors will be able to sample fresh grilled vegetables, learn gardening tips and see new alternative vegetable crops, including organically grown products. It is a way to honor our local growers and celebrate the success of the Waynesville Tailgate market, Huelster said. For more information call 828.456.3517. |
