The 31st Annual Smoky Mountain Folk Festival will be held this Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30-31, at Stuart Audi-torium on the grounds of the Lake Junaluska Assembly.

The festival draws more than 250 performers including fiddlers, banjo players, string bands, ballad singers, buck dancers, and square dance teams, as well as the sounds of the dulcimer, harmonica, Native American flute and bagpipes.

Each night features a special performance for children and the young at heart on the Tent Stage, which begins at 5 p.m., and the Main Stage entertainment will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. both nights.

“Folk music is alive and well and our goal is to keep it alive,” said Joe Sam Queen, festival director.

Main show tickets are $10 at the door, $7.50 in advance. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Haywood County Arts Council at 37 Church Street in Waynesville or at the Administrative Building at Lake Junaluska.
