| << Back 8/28/02 Gallery to host workshop with collage artist SMN Dorothy BlondinCollage artist Dorothy Blondin will lead a two-day workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, and Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Uptown Gallery in Franklin. To register, go by the gallery at 30 East Main Street in Franklin or call 828.349.4607. This workshop is open to all interested artist at every skil level. Collage experimenting is part of the variety of techniques that are as old as forever and are an interesting change for an artist, whose work is basically traditional or architectural, said Blondin. I might forgo all other mediums to glue, iron, scatter, shuffle, tear out, drop and whatever it takes to create — to explore — the wonderful world of collage. Blondin studied design at the Art Institute of Chicago then studied commercial art, architectural drawing and rendering along with business. She and her husband now live in Central Florida. She actively competes and exhibits in Mount Dora and Eustis, Fla., Highlands, N.C. and Sky Valley, Ga. You can see her award-winning works in public and private collections in eight states. Her collage A Pot of Daylilies, won Best of the Show at the Lake Eustis Museum of the Arts and the Presidential Award at the 18th Annual Lake Sumter Community College Presidential Art Exhibit. |
