| << Back 8/24/05 Candidate stances SMN Cabe, Oliver seek completion of revitalization projects Alderwoman Anne Cabe and Mayor Brenda Oliver both cited their desire to see
pending downtown revitalization projects completed, including a
greenway along Scott’s Creek between Sylva and Dillsboro and
streetscaping along Mill Street — a.k.a. Back Street, which
runs parallel to Main Street. While most storefronts face Main Street
and use Mill Street as their back entrance, Mill Street is on the
fast-track to being a new center of attention downtown. Candidate Knotts wants more feedback Stacy Knotts, a candidate for the Sylva town board, said she wants to implement a tool for gathering feedback from residents that has long been used in the business world to communicate with customers — the suggestion box. “One of the things I would like to do is be completely accessible for the residents of Sylva and advocate for their ideas and have good communication between the people,” Knotts said. Knotts said she wants to have a suggestion box at town hall for people to put their ideas, comments or concerns, as well as an on-line version, which she has already set up on her Web site, Stacyforsylva.com. “I know you can go to the meetings and speak, but for some people that is not their style. They aren’t going to show up and speak publicly at a meeting. They might feel more comfortable dropping a suggestion and I want to hear as many suggestions from the residents as possible,” Knotts said. |
