| << Back 9/4/02 Unique music blend offered up at Sylva tea house SMN The Soul Infusion Tea House in Sylva has a line-up of unique music for the upcoming weekend, including a show by the Almost Acoustic Band. The Almost Acoustic Band includes founding members of Grass Is Dead and Crazy Fingers. Band member Billy Gilmore has been playing for 25 years, including 11 years with Stonehouse. In 1994 through 1995 he toured the Southeast and Midwest and has released three albums of original material. He was also the co-founder of the Grass is Dead, a bluegrass tribute to the music of Robert Hunter and Jerry Garcia. The Grass is Dead released two albums that were quite successful and got picked up by G.D.M. (Grateful Dead Merchandising)and aired regularly on the Grateful Dead Hour hosted by David Gans. Gilmore was also a co-founder of Stains of Grass, a roots-bluegrass string band. Billy played along side Old & In the Way at the MagnoliaFest in 2001, and has also shared the stage with such accomplished artists as Little Feat, the Flecktones, Aquarium Rescue Unit, and more. Brent Hopper, another member of Almost Acoustic, has played with Cosmic Revolution, The Grass is Dead, Crazy Fingers, and other side projects. He has shared the bill with such performers as the Jerry Garcia Band, Blueground Undergrass, Donna the Buffalo, Peter Rowan and many more. Josh Foster has played with anumber of Florida bands and is also a part of Cosmic Revolution. Since 1994, he has been a member of Crazy Fingers, South Floridas largest drawing band, celebrating the music of the Grateful Dead. Foster has shared the bill with many accomplished artists such as the Radiators, Government Mule, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Jerry Garcia Band, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, String Cheese Incident, Little Feat, David Grisman and more. He has recorded two CDs including Crazy Fingers debut album (Cmon and Dance), and Camp Wannago, a benefit album for children with A.I.D.S. |
