Hancock is one of the pioneers in the world of jazz. His creative path has moved between acoustic, electronic jazz and funk since 1960. His first serious foray into music came with Miles Davis in 1963. He then moved quickly into a solo career that encompassed television and feature film scores, such as the theme song for Fat Albert. Among his greatest accomplishments is producing the first jazz platinum LP Headhunters. In 1980, Herbie Hancock introduced the young Wynton Marsalis to the world as a solo artist, producing the trumpeters debut album, which quickly gained critical acclaim. One of his latest and crowning achievements was the release of Gershwins World (1998). This masterpiece brought artists from all over the music spectrum together in a celebration of George Gershwin, including Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Kathleen Battle, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Wayne Shorter and Chick Corea. Hancock has won countless Grammy, Emmy and jazz awards. For more concert information, contact Jack Leitenberg at 646.336.6465. |
