| << Back 9/21/05 Heritage is subject of WCU Folklife series SMN Western Carolina University’s Appalachian Folklife Series for 2005-06 continues with a program titled “Keepers of the Flame: The Mountains, the People, their Shared Heritage” at 7 p.m on Sept. 28. Sponsored by Western’s Mountain Heritage Center and the ethnography laboratory of Western’s department of anthropology and sociology, the program will feature Vera Guise, visiting professor in Western’s department of political science and public affairs, discussing the changing face of the mountain landscape and its inhabitants, and their combined impacts on mountain culture, history and lore. It will be held in the Mountain Heritage Center auditorium. The Mountain Heritage Center, open to the public free of charge, is located on the ground floor of Western’s H. F.
