A revised circulation policy is now in effect for all member libraries in the Fontana Regional Library system, which includes all public libraries in Jackson, Macon and Swain counties.

Book borrowing privileges will be suspended if money owed to the library system reaches $15. Privileges will be reinstated once payment is received. Also, library users will need to pay any money owed to the library in full each year when their library card is due for renewal if they wish to have borrowing privileges extended for another year. First-time library card applicants will be issued a restricted borrower’s card, which will limit the number of items checked out at any time to five. After three months, these library card-holders will have their borrowing privileges upgraded to “unrestricted,” provided the person checking out items owes no money to the library for overdue items.
