‘Elijah’ performance is Nov. 4 in Waynesville

“Elijah,” the oratorio of the Biblical story written by Felix Mendelssohn in 1846, will be performed by the Lake Junaluska Community Chorus on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m.in the sanctuary at First United Methodist Church in Waynesville.

The Chorus will be augmented by the choirs of First United Methodist Church of Charlotte, the Matthews United Methodist Church from Matthews, and the Voices in the Laurel Children’s Choir.

The conductor is J. William Stephenson with Kathryn Stephenson at the organ. Edward Davis will sing the part of Elijah and Larry Ousley will be Obadiah. Other soloists include Marlene Hyatt, Paula McElroy, Molly Mitchell, Kay Scott and Barbara Stallings.

The part of the youth will be sung by Michael Burson, a member of the Voices in the Laurel Youth Choir.

The church is at 566 South Haywood Street. Admission is free. There will be a freewill offering.
