| << Back 11/27/02 Cataloochee Ski Area anticipates opening SMN Cataloochee Ski Mountain and Tonys Tube World in Maggie Valley will open for the season on Friday, Nov. 29, if weather conditions hold, said Tammy Brown, director of public relations for the resort. Resort workers have already been blowing and are expecting cold night-time temperatures to continue for a couple of nights this week. Cataloochee will have one session on Nov. 29 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, the resort will also only have day skiing. On Sunday, in conjunction with Haywood Christian Ministries, Cataloochee will hold the first annual Can-U-Ski Food and Coat Drive. Anyone who brings three cans of food or a winter jacket of any size will receive a free lift ticket. Tonys Tube World will begin the season on Nov. 29 operating from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Cost for tubing ins $15 for a two-hour session and children must be at least 42 inches tall to ride alone. No two-person tubing is allowed.
