Joining Chambliss will be guitarist Chris Cooper. With serious keyboard chops and a voice described as “velvet-coated candy,” (Frank Rabey, Mountain Xpress) Chambliss melds Rickie Lee Jones with Sarah McLachlan, adding her own funky edge. “Singer-pianist Ashley Chambliss looks to be one of the brightest new young talents, with her amazing voice, top keyboard skills and profound lyrics,” wrote Tony Kiss of the Asheville Citizen Times. Chambliss studied at the Berklee College of Music, but returned to Sylva in search of her deeper musical roots. After a two-year “quiet spell,” she is back on stage with new songs of turning new leaves. While the fragile beauty remains in her songwriting, there is a newfound strength and wit — a product of weathering storms and living to laugh about it. Chambliss’ past performances have included sharing the stage with local notables and national recognizable names such as Chris Rosser, Claire Holly, Laura Blackley, Billy Jonas, Justincase, Ari Hest, Duncan Sheik and Gerry Leonard. Chambliss’ albums, nakedsongs and in this ocean are available for purchase at cdbaby.com. A new album is in the works. Soul Infusion Tea House and Bistro is located in an historic 1930s farmhouse at 628 E. Main Street in Sylva. For more information call 828.586.1717. |
