To the Editor:

Haywood Arts Regional Theater’s Steven Lloyd directed Sir John Gielgud’s adapted version of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” and it was brilliant on opening night. Adam Kampouris’ interpretation of the Prince of Denmark was world class, in my opinion. I have been privileged to see five Royal Shakespeare presentations of “Hamlet” featuring Kenneth Branaugh and Roger Rees, among others, in the leading role, and I think none were more moving than what I witnessed last Friday.

The entire cast put in studied, spirited performances with the tragic drama heightened by the musical score created and performed by David Bruce. Bravo to the cast and producers! Bravo for more Shakespeare!
