<< Back 12/4/02 Wildlife Resources asks for $13.3 million to purchase entire Needmore acreage SMN The Clean Water Management Trust Fund said Dec. 3 that the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission had submitted a grant request for $13.3 million for the purpose of purchasing the Needmore Tract in Swain and Macon counties. Lisa Schell of CWMTF said the application called for the purchase of the entire tract — 4,058 contiguous acres plus 15 nearby parcels totaling approximately 400 acres. The CWMTF decision is expected in February. Crescent Resources, the current owner has not made any official statement yet about the disposition of the tract. Tonja Jones of Crown Communications, a Crescent spokesperson, said the company had plans to make an official statement regarding the tract sometime this week. No day was given.
