Winston is well known for his lyrical piano style that spawned a genre of music from the Windham Hill recording label. Since 1980, he has recorded eight solo piano albums that have gone gold, platinum or multi-platinum. In recording a tribute to the classic rock band of the 60s and 70s, The Doors, Winston tackles a musical subject that is seemingly contradictory to his style. Since first hearing Break on Through (to the Other Side) in 1967, however, the solo pianist has been deeply inspired by the music of the Doors. |
