Cherokee Chief Leon Jones joins Canary Coalition

The Canary Coalition, a Western North Carolina-based clean air advocacy group, recently announced that Cherokee Principal Chief Leon Jones has joined the organization and will serve on its Advisory Board.

The advisory board consists of community members who are making themselves available to staff and governing board members for counsel on important policy decisions.

Other advisory board members of the Canary Coalition include Cullowhee Methodist Church Minister Frank Padgett, Dr. Roy Gallinger, retired Minister Harold Strater, and nurse Judith Hallock, founder of the Good Samaritan Clinic in Sylva.

The Canary Coalition now has over 200 members, mostly in western North Carolina, consisting of businesses, local government officials, religious leaders, members of the medical profession and private individuals.
