The Cradle of Forestry is offering a seminar on air quality, Saturday,
Aug. 11, 1:00-4:30 p.m. The afternoon will include informative programs
from the regions leaders in air quality management, issues and
action. There will also be a variety of information, booths and educational
videos to view, reflecting some of the materials available on the topic
of air quality.
There will be three speakers participating in the afternoon session:
Andrew Goldberg, Bill Jackson and Crystal Pace. Air quality issues in
Western North Carolina are regional in nature and Goldberg, Program
Coordinator for Mountain Air Quality Coalition, will address this and
the specific attributes of and possible solutions to poor air quality
in the region. Jackson, air quality specialist for the National Forests
in North Carolina, will share the science of air quality on a lay persons
level. He will then take participants on a walk to see symptoms of poor
air quality on vegetation. This portion of the program will be from
2-3:30 p.m. and is open to all Cradle of Forestry visitors.
Pace, who works at the N.C. Division of Air Quality in the Department
of Environment and Natural Resources, will address ozone forecasting
and Ozone Action Day.
Admission to the Cradle of Forestry is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children
between the ages of 4-17. Call the Cradle of Forestry to register for
