Mountain music in Haywood

SMN

Haywood County’s Anne and Rob Lough will perform in the Waynesville Public Library Auditorium at 3 p.m, on Sunday, Aug. 19.

The performance of traditional mountain music is sponsored by the Haywood County Arts Council and the Friends of the Library.

Anne and Rob Lough have performed together for over 30 years. Rob sings and plays guitar, and Anne is a nationally-known mountain dulcimer and hammered dulcimer player and instructor. She is a regular instructor on these instruments at the prestigious John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown. She is also a part-time lecturer for Western Carolina University. She has taught at the Swannanoa Gathering at Warren Wilson College, the Great American Dulcimer Convention and the Winston-Salem Dulcimer Festival.

Anne was recently chosen as one of 14 performers to have her music included on a CD recording, “Great Players of the Mountain Dulcimer.” She is active as a Visiting Artist in the Mountain Arts Program throughout Western North Car- olina and is on the Touring Artist Roster for the North Carolina Arts Council.

Together these two seasoned artists create a warm, personal interpretation of traditional mountain music. This installment of the Sunday Afternoon Concert Series is free, but donations are accepted. For more Information call 828.452.0593, or visit our website at www.haywoodarts.org

This is a Haywood County Arts Council and Friends of the Library production with support from the N.C. Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of North Carolina and the National Endowment for the Arts and the generous members of the Haywood County Arts Council.
