Three incumbents lose Tribal Council seats

Unofficial results of Cherokee’s Tribal Council election, held Thursday, Sept. 6, show nine incumbents returning. Incumbents who lost their seats include Mary Thompson of Big Cove, who was defeated in the June 7 primary, and Carroll Parker of Wolfetown and council chairman Dan McCoy of Birdtown.
New council members will be sworn in at an October meeting for two-year terms. If election results stand council members will be (“I” denotes incumbent.)

• Birdtown - Jim Owle (I) and Albert D. Crowe

• Wolfetown - Larry Blythe (I) and Dwayne A. Jackson

• Big Cove - Teresa McCoy (I) and Richard Palmer

• Snowbird - Brenda Norville (I) and Glenda Sanders (I)

• Yellowhill - Bob Blankenship (I) and Alan “B” Ensley (I)

• Painttown - Marie Junaluska(I) and Tommye Saunooke (I)
