CONCESSION BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY FOR VISITOR CONVENIENCE ITEMS AND VENDING AT CADES COVE, OCONALUFTEE, AND SUGARLANDS VISITOR CENTERS AND THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS INSTITUTE AT TREMONT IN GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK
The National Park Service (NPS) has issued a prospectus for solicitation of offers for a 10-year concession contract to provide Visitor Convenience Items and Vending at Cades Cove, Oconaluftee, and Sugarlands Visitor Centers and the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Cades Cove Visitor Center and the Great Smoky Mountains Institute are near Townsend, Tenn. The Sugarlands Visitor Center is near Gatlinburg, Tenn. and the Oconaluftee Visitor Center is near Cherokee, N.C. Gross revenues over the past five years for the existing concessioner have been from $205,347- $240,030 annually.
The Director, pursuant to 36 CFR 51, has determined that this is a qualified contract with regard to preference for a Preferred Offeror, and that the existing concessioner, Great Smoky Mountains Association, is a Preferred Offeror for this contract. Any offer, including that of the existing concessioner, must be received by the NPS at the address listed in the prospectus, no later than 4 p.m. on September 18, 2009 in order to be evaluated and considered for an award of a concession contract. The prospectus describes the business opportunity and includes the terms and conditions under which the NPS will award the concession contract.
The prospectus is available on the NPS website at http://www.concessions.nps.gov/Prospectus.cfm. Hard copies are also available for $50. To request a copy, send a $50 check, payable to the National Park Service, to: Mark Morgan, NPS Southeast Region, AFC, 1924 Building, 100 Alabama Street, S.W., Atlanta, GA 30303. (No telephone requests for the prospectus will be honored.) The $50 fee includes an administrative charge and shipping fee for each prospectus. Please include, with written request, a physical address (no post office box) and telephone number. You may also pick up a printed copy at the Superintendent’s Office at Park Headquarters for $45 (checks only).
